At Onetai, our philosophy is anchored in three pillars: spirit, thought, and connection. We are often asked what that looks like in practice, and the truth is that it changes depending on who walks through our doors.

We see the estate as a space for people to check in: to their work, their communities, and each other. We are proud to host a diverse range of gatherings, from creative workshops and team retreats to community-led masterminds. Each group brings a unique energy that breathes new life into the property.

Last weekend, we hosted a group from the Socialdog community, and their time here was a wonderful example of what happens when a group brings genuine focus and expert-led purpose to their gathering.

Socialdog is a platform founded by dog trainer Misha Gildenberger and veterinarian Dr. Brett Kirkland. Their work is built on a specific, evidence-based mission: to help dog owners raise socially healthy, confident pets by providing both education and a safe way to facilitate real-world play.

Gildenberger, who has over 15 years of experience in canine behaviour and rehabilitation, understands that systemic issues—like dog reactivity—often stem from a lack of "social literacy." Socialdog addresses this by moving beyond simple "matchmaking." The app provides a knowledge hub where owners can learn about canine body language and behaviour, ensuring that when they do meet, the interaction is safe and positive.

During their retreat at the estate, Misha’s goal mirrored the platform’s core ethos: to move beyond the superficial. She led her group through exercises designed to translate the principles of healthy socialization into human connection. It was a masterclass in behavioral literacy, demonstrating that whether you are managing a pack of dogs or a community of people, the foundation remains the same: observation, patience, and active responsibility.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Onetai is witnessing how different communities utilize the estate. Whether you are a corporate team looking to break through a creative block, a group of artists refining your craft, or a community organization testing new ways to connect, we believe every gathering has the potential to be a powerful experience.

When groups like Socialdog visit, they don’t just use the space for accommodation; they use it as a catalyst for their mission. By arriving with a clear purpose and an openness to connect, they make the estate feel like a home for ideas, growth, and meaningful interaction.

You don't need a formal framework or a complex agenda to make the most of your time at Onetai. You just need to bring your intention.

When you strip away the distractions and focus on the purpose of your visit, the space naturally supports you. It becomes a sanctuary for the work you are doing and the connections you are building.

We love hosting groups that treat their time here as an investment in their community. If you are planning your next gathering and are looking for a space that values the importance of coming together, we would love to host you. Bring your focus, bring your people, and we’ll handle the rest.
